The New Seven Wonders of the World : These were chosen through a global poll by the New7Wonders organization in 2007. They represent the most impressive man-made structures in the modern world: The Great Wall of China  (China) – A massive wall built to protect China from invasions. Petra  (Jordan) – An ancient city carved into rose-colored rock. Christ the Redeemer  (Brazil) – A giant statue of Jesus Christ overlooking Rio de Janeiro. Machu Picchu  (Peru) – An ancient Incan city set high in the Andes mountains. Chichen Itza  (Mexico) – A massive Mayan pyramid, known for its astronomical significance. The Colosseum  (Italy) – A grand amphitheater in Rome, famous for gladiator battles. Taj Mahal  (India) – A stunning marble mausoleum built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

"The Seven Wonders of the World"   The  Seven Wonders of the World  can refer to two different lists: the  Ancient Wonders  (seven famous structures from ancient times) and the  New Seven Wonders of the World  (modern wonders chosen in a global poll).  The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World : These were considered the most impressive structures of the ancient world. Most of them no longer exist: The Great Pyramid of Giza  (Egypt) – The only one still standing. A real blast from the past. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon  (Iraq) – No one's quite sure if they ever existed, but they sound amazing. The Statue of Zeus at Olympia  (Greece) – A massive statue of the big fella himself, Zeus.
